Commercials Unlimited delivered an outstanding campaign for us for Northern Bank, in circumstances made more difficult by time constraints, technical considerations and a complex brief. However, Chris and the whole CU team were fully committed and engaged from Day One right through to handover. Simon, in particular, deserves special mention for the extraordinary depth of understanding and technical skill he brought to the project as producer – which proved invaluable time and time again.
Suki, The director chosen for the 'Train to Gain' commercial, got some great performances out of the two actors and allowed them to tell the story with a smile. I think the ad is beautifully paced and subtly makes it point without being heavy handed. Behind the scenes Commercials took my tight time constraints (from brief to finished ad in just two weeks) and produced the goods with flair. Naturally, I took all the credit back at the agency, but then that’s creatives for you.”
"It's easy to make bad commercials. Whatever the budget. It's much harder to make good commercials, let alone great ones. We had a big idea and a brave client. A client who wanted to change his brand’s position. And we we're being ambitious with the idea, too. A 40 second spot and six 30 second spots on not exactly a massive budget. What we did have though, was a production company who are experts at delivering to a vision and ambition of this type. A production company that always seem to be able to take the budget and turn out spots that punch well above their weight. They have the experience to know how to bring in the right talent to make things happen. And what really makes Commercials Unlimited great is that they are simply great people to work with. Given all this, I think we made some very good commercials!"
Client comment: “Commercials Unlimited teamed up with Baraka to produce this new campaign for Holland & Barrett. Over 70 commercials were crafted to combine live action – Kim Wilde sync to camera – with multiple product CGI’s, where the task was to seduce the viewer into believing that the products on the shelves were real before they burst into life. Each product develops into a quirky scenario; a pack with Beckham-like skills playing ‘keepy-uppy’ with a capsule, packs waltzing a slick ‘Fred ‘n’ Ginger’ routine, a strutting supermodel with attitude and many more besides. Without exception, all the spots have great quirk and charm whilst still retaining their essential core retail message. It was a big undertaking with time constraints too, so a huge slap on the back for everyone concerned.”
