Richard does beauty – beautifully. Despite his love of the technical possibilities of film making, these being merely the tools for the job, the main focus of Richard’s work is capturing tactile emotion; those elusive fleeting moments which communicate and captivate.
This spot for Aiko is a perfect case in point; Richard says it’s always fun to shoot in extreme slow motion since what you see, and what you record, is so different. He controls the whole technical approach while keeping this as far away from the model as possible so as to not spoil the spontaneity and naturalness of the performance – even great hair is worthless if the face is tortured!
Aiko belongs to the German drug store Mueller. It was a one day studio shoot and the DOP was Manuel Wenger.
